WESTCHESTER COUNTY AIRPORT: New Low-Cost Airline To Fly To Eight Cities
WHITE PLAINS – Breeze Airways began service only 10 months ago and has now announced it will fly to eight cities from Westchester County Airport.
Charleston, South Carolina, Jacksonville, Florida and Norfolk, Virginia will all start at the end of June while service to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Orleans, San Francisco and Savannah, Georgia will start in the fall.
All of the flights will be non-stop with the exception of New Orleans, which will stop at Jacksonville to pick up additional passengers, said Director of Corporate Communications Gareth Edmondson-Jones.
“Anyone who flies out of Westchester knows today you can only fly as far west as Chicago, so everyone in the area is used to driving to JFK or Newark to get a non-stop or flying into Chicago for a connection. This changes the game for everybody,” he said.
Edmondson-Jones said the primary target area for Westchester’s Breeze service will be the Westchester-Connecticut market.
The leisure airline will fly daily to the west coast and Charleston while the other cities will operate on a four-days-per-week schedule, similar to Allegiant Airlines’ model, he said.
When asked if Breeze would consider service from New York Stewart International Airport at Newburgh, he said it is “always a consideration” in the future.
